Recycled Art

I finished my second piece for the Recycled Art competition at 10:00pm last night. Today is the deadline - nothing like cutting it close to get the creative juices flowing. This ended up taking way more time than I thought it would - cutting and gluing all those little tiny pieces is super time consuming!

I'm calling it Weeping Willow. It's made from little bits of paper cut from National Geographic Magazines that had been thrown away where I work. The "weeping" leaves are made from sad parts of a couple different books so the tree is weeping words. I don't know if they'll show up in the photo, but they show up when you get close to the picture. The frame is from Salvation Army and painted with paint from the Household Hazardous Waste Reuse facility.
You've already seen this; it's my second entry into the competition. This one is called Fancy Rooster and is made from used keys and frame/base is a cupboard door that has been painted with recycled paint from the HHW facility also (which is at my place of work). It's handy to work for a garbage company when you're making recycled art!

I love the flow of the weeping leaves/branches and do wish I could read the words...

I think I already professed my love of the key rooster.

I do wish you bundles of luck in this competition. No reason why these both couldn't be prize winners. Fingers crossed!!!
