I finished my second piece for the Recycled Art competition at 10:00pm last night. Today is the deadline - nothing like cutting it close to get the creative juices flowing. This ended up taking way more time than I thought it would - cutting and gluing all those little tiny pieces is super time consuming!
I'm calling it Weeping Willow. It's made from little bits of paper cut from National Geographic Magazines that had been thrown away where I work. The "weeping" leaves are made from sad parts of a couple different books so the tree is weeping words. I don't know if they'll show up in the photo, but they show up when you get close to the picture. The frame is from Salvation Army and painted with paint from the Household Hazardous Waste Reuse facility.
You've already seen this; it's my second entry into the competition. This one is called Fancy Rooster and is made from used keys and frame/base is a cupboard door that has been painted with recycled paint from the HHW facility also (which is at my place of work). It's handy to work for a garbage company when you're making recycled art!

I love the weepingwillow. We had one in the yard of the first house we rented, I loved it and I love you picture. It is way cool. I aree with Marj, these in my opinion are "Blue Ribbon" quality.
I would go crosseyed gluing all of those little pieces of paper. Wow, it has such wonderful texture and colors. I love the rooster too. I hope you win prizes with these and or sell them. Great job.
Wow Patty! These are both awesome!!! So creative and the end result is fabulous. You will get 1st and 2nd place for sure.
WONDERFUL WORKS OF ART!!!!!! I love the stories they tell too. Weeping "words"..Brilliant. Both are first place winners in my book.
you did a wonderful job with the weeping willow.
I hope you win :)
Wow Patty, you are always so motivated to try new things. I love the willow tree and recycled material.....nice.
I love the flow of the weeping leaves/branches and do wish I could read the words...
I think I already professed my love of the key rooster.
I do wish you bundles of luck in this competition. No reason why these both couldn't be prize winners. Fingers crossed!!!
wow-ee is right Patty. Where/when is the art show taking place? I hope I'll be able to go. (amd buy that Weeping Willow) I love that! It is so beautiful. I love the rooster too but my favorite is the Willow.
