Flurry of thoughts

I've had a very busy thinking day. My brain feels overwhelmed but at peace....that's kind of weird to say it that way, but it's been a day where I've had lots of emotions and thoughts about life and what it all means.

First - more frustration and anticipation at work. Layoffs and our hours getting cut back is the topic of discussion whenever someone walks into my office. The mayor is proposing a 37.5 hour work week for the next 2 years. Then I found out later that he's looking specifically at middle management and supervisors who manage small groups of employees. Perhaps we don't need all those middle managers? I only supervise 3 people so that gives me some anxiety. Of course I don't just sit around and "supervise" all day, but it's easy for someone far away to decide we are "overstaffed" without even visiting our office.

Second - I had lengthy conversation with my daughter who is due to give birth any time now. We talked about signs of labor starting, what to expect, what to do and assurances that it will all be worth it. Her first pregnancy ended with an emergency c-section so giving birth naturally is a mystery right now. She was feeling some pains today, but nothing stayed consistant. I'm thining it's possible I'll get a call in the middle of the night. I hope so because I'm going to be out of town this weekend and I don't want to be out of touch.

Third - I had an interesting spiritual conversation with a co-worker that I was not expecting. She has many struggles in her life. Did I respond well? Did I say what needed to be said? Did our conversation help or hinder her?

Last - I attended a memorial service/celebration of life tonight for a little girl who didn't quite reach her 5th birthday. Her family is so wonderful and trusting in God and I came away feeling at peace, knowing she is in a better place and her heart is now healed (she was born with severe heart defects).

I think my body and head need some sleep. Good night.

It does seem like you have a lot of feelings on your plate. Have a good weekend at the cabin and get some rest......Oh that's right, there is no rest at the cabin.
