Can we go for a ride?

There are certain words that dogs recognize. Ours know "wanna treat?", "go for a walk", "there's a moose", "who's that?" and a few others. One of their favorites is "who wants to go for a boat ride?" Often I do, but more often it's the three mutts. And Tim always comes through. Here the pups are getting into the boat as he holds it steady for me to climb in.

They are eager! A boat ride is sooooo much fun! I can't really figure out why....I mean, I know why I like it, but what makes it so enjoyable for a dog? They hang over the edge, bounce back and forth from side to side, front to back and back to front, whine at the shore, and generally make a nuisance of themselves. It's not like the boat goes fast enough for them to feel the wind in their faces, it's just a rowboat.

But I guess it's all in what you make it. We all love our boat rides and Tim gets a nice workout rowing me (and the dogs) up and down the lake.

Your dogs are so funny. They seem to enjoy everything you do. That's great. Last year our neighbors dog would not go out on the lake when it had new clear ice. The dog just stood on the dock and barked at the ice...it was so funny. Don't worry, there was at least 8 inches or so of ice. The lake is beautiful when it first freezes over before the snow starts. You can see right through the ice!
