Feeling tangled, zen that is

I've been working on a few zentangles in my new sketchbook. The first I gave away to someone who wanted to buy it (a waitress). So this is the second. If you google Zentangle Patterns you can find all sorts of interesting patterns and segments on how to draw them. I got the coil idea going around the right circle from there.

We had a great time at Kids' Kitchen yesterday. I took pictures but forgot my camera so can't show and tell, but I will tomorrow.

And for those of you who may not have recognized my poem from Cactus Monday it was a remake of Little Brave Sambo , which many years ago was called Little Black Sambo. We had a record player when I was a child and we'd sit around and listen to several different children's stories such as Puss N Boots, Chicken Little, The Little Red Hen, Peter and the Wolf and Little Brave Sambo. I used to be able to quote many of the stories and songs. This is what kids did before there was Nintendo and Play Station and Wii.

I remember little black sambo. I never saw anything wrong with that story but some were offended by the term Sambo. To many, this word meant nothing and if you compare it to what people are rapping about themselves today and just plain vulgarity making people billions, I think it's hypocritical of them to change the name of this book. It is what it is and I loved it.

Those Zen Tangles are always so cool. I had to ask Kris about the meaning behind your picture. She explained.

These are fabulous Patty. You are so talented. I love the patterns you put together.

I recognized the nursery rhyme. I have a book with that name.

Lovely Zentangle. You do these so good. But you said you GAVE the first one away to someone who wanted to BUY it. so you did actually sell it or give it to her?
I agree with 'A Ladys Life' on the Story and words now.

Don't forget Tarzan! Loved it! I remember someone got me the record for Christmas I think. I also catch myself from time to time humming the song of Sambo.

To all; Although the waitress asked about buying it, I just gave it to her with my tip. I wouldn't charge money for a doodle unless it was exceptional and mounted and framed....I think. Maybe somebody else should test me! I never remember Little Black Sambo as racist, but then again, I never even experienced racism until I was older and in high school so maybe I was just naive and innocent longer than most. I always thought Sambo sounded like an African name, not a slave or servant name. What do I know? Again, maybe I was just naive or people make too much over a simple thing as a name. Kris - I don't remember Tarzan on a record.
