In memory of Rita Hole

Rita Hole passed from this life yesterday evening.  I do believe she is in a much better place!  Heaven is such a happy place with no more tears or sorrows.  Rita and her husband Don often sat in the pew in front of me, just to my left, so I have more drawings of them than anybody else.

When I found out she had terminal cancer is when I started having a hard time drawing in church anymore.  It just became so personal - three of the people I have sketched have passed on in the past two years.  When you are drawing someone it becomes so intimate to watch them closely and make note of their every wrinkle, mole, and strand of hair.  As I was sketching I found myself sometimes questioning in my head "I wonder when their turn will come."  That was a little too close for comfort, so I stopped sketching people for awhile.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. It is difficult to lose someone from your life. Peace.

Oh no this is so sad. I have a good friend who is struggling too. Sigh.

Memories are good though. Do you think her family would find comfort in your sketches? Showing their loved one in a place where she felt peace?
