2013

I don't usually make resolutions, or if I do, I don't say them out loud to anybody.  I am rotten at keeping good intentions going for anything longer than a few weeks, maybe a month.

I'm thinking the usual....eat less, make healthier food choices, exercise more, be kinder, have more patience, do something important with my life...

When it comes right down to it I do have some changes I'd like to make in this new year - they are mostly in my head.  I want to spend more time creating art.  I want to quit procrastinating on most everything.  I would like to complete the writing of another book I have in mind.

We have warmed up considerably - it has been above freezing this whole past week.  My car never started after freezing up two weeks ago.  We had to have it towed into an auto center.  Good news!  It will be ready to come home tomorrow.

We are hoping to make a trip outside to visit our daughter and family in Corpus Christi and another trip to MO in February.  That is the perfect time of year to get out of state and escape the long Alaskan winter.

For Christmas I received the complete DVD series of James Herriott's All Things Bright and Beautiful, the best selling books about being a veterinarian in Scotland in the 1940's.  This is a BBC production and very good so far.  We've already completed season 1 and are halfway through Season 2.  I also received a gift certificate to Blaines, the only fine arts store in Anchorage.  I can spend money pretty easily there, so I'm looking forward to my next shopping excursion!

Thanks for your lovely comment. You asked me what I prefer to paint with. well since I started with Oils that's my first preference, mostly because I know it so well, but it does take long to dry so makes working with it frustrating sometimes. so maybe acrylic would be best for you. but I find they dry dull..Oils are richer. I use watercolors only on cards and journaling and sometimes use acrylics over those because I find watercolors frustrating. I am so used to building up colors with oils and you can do that with acrylics too. I love an Artist we get on our PBS station daily called Jerry Yarnell. you can look him up.. he does acrylics, because he is allergic to oils and its so much fun to see him teach. I hope that answered your question.

Yeah the same here with resolutions.....I try not to make too many as I end up being disappointed in myself :(
