Bike adventure

I biked to work again today - it started out cold and cloudy so I wore my gloves, ear muffs and fleece but by this afternoon it was a gorgeous sunny day.  Biking to work following the Campbell Creek trail (upstream) is slightly uphill the whole way, but coming home (downstream) is downhill all the way and a much easier ride.

I had a slight accident on the way to work, just after we left the house.  Sweetie was about 20 feet in front of me and jumped his bike up onto the sidewalk over a rounded curb.  I hollered out, "I don't think I can jump the curb."  He hollered back, "then don't.  Stop and walk it up."  I didn't want to stop and he made it look so easy so I thought I'd just give it a try.  Epic fail!  I need to remember that I am older than I used to be and don't have quite the same coordination as my younger self or my in-shape husband.  Long story short, I scraped my cheek on the sidewalk and grass, got some sand in my mouth, sprained two fingers, and bruised both knees.

Campbell Creek

Taku Lake (about half way)

Duh...do you think this sign is really necessary now?

Last hill before I get home - I walked up it today because my hand and knees were hurting.  It's fun to go down in the morning though!

I took pics of the beautiful ride home and since I don't have any paparazzi following me around, I drew a cartoon of my accident for your viewing pleasure.

Oh Patty, I feel for you. I've bike accidents in the past while mountain biking. Yes, there is a technique to jumping a curb...it's called a "bunny hop." I never was good a those hops!!!!

Beautiful photos of your bike ride. And the cartoon? I love it!!!! Hope your body feels better by the weekend.

I feel for you, having just fallen out of my collaped hammock whacking my head and getting both shins whacked, and tail bone bruised on the bar below. Your cartoon is terrific! Tells us the story in all it's glory. do hope you heal quickly. Four days out I am back to normal more or less. You will be too. You can see my "accident" on my blog from Sunday I think. Or Monday?

So sorry you fell, I know what that feels like--I tripped hurrying in the front door with sandals on...as you say, not as agile as I used to be!
Feel better real quick. Love the cartoon! At least you can laugh at yourself (and sketch it :-)
