Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday

Merry Christmas to all my friends and family - I have had a most wonderful Christmas with lots of family surrounding me. We had the whole gang over Christmas Eve for snacks and opening of presents for those who would not see each other on Christmas Day. Then today we had church in the morning and Christmas dinner with the Price clan (our daughter-in-laws family.) I'm stuffed and ready for a long winter's nap.

On this day 26 years ago I was in the hospital giving birth to my daughter Katie. She was the best Christmas present ever. She wasn't due till January 7 or so; I remember feeling terrible on Christmas Eve with a tummy ache and just not hungry, but we had the usual family get together and then went to bed. I woke up Christmas morning with cramps (at least that's what I thought they were - it was my first pregnancy) -my husband and I talked about maybe getting checked out at the hospital...just to make sure everything was ok. But I didn't want to go without a shower, so we both took showers, got dressed and then went to the hospital. Because I wasn't acting like I was in labor they didn't rush. By the time they got me to a room and someone checked me out, I was close to giving birth. The doctor was called and within 4 hours of arriving at the hospital, I had a new baby. We didn't even call the family until after she was born. We were due at my parent's house around noon for the big family dinner, but called at noon and told them we couldn't come because I was in the hospital with a brand new baby. They all came and visited us that afternoon. Now she's all grown up and lives in Virginia with her husband and three sweet children.Happy Birthday Katie! I love you and miss you!
