The opening reception for the art show was last night. I thought h'our d'vours might be served but there wasn't any. Apparently some people ruin art by getting food on it, so no more food at art events at this gallery. I guess you can't always expect people to behave properly. A person came with a parrot......our recycling coordinator was appalled and was wondering to me what happens if the bird tries to fly and lands on someone's art or takes a poop? It didn't so maybe the owner knew it couldn't or wouldn't....but it makes other people concerned. There were several small children running around driving toy cars on the walls and pedestals. Besides all that, it was fun! Lots of people came out; I would guess at least a 100 - the gallery was crowded for almost two hours. I had to keep leaving the smaller gallery where the recycled art was located because it was too stuffy, crowded and got hot. The larger front galleries had a little more room so I wandered around looking at the other art on display.
One of my pieces sold first thing - the gallery gets 30%-50% commission (depending on front or back gallery) so I can see why art is priced higher at a gallery than other venues. This lady bought my Weeping Willow - you can see my Fancy Rooster behind her.
Here are some of the other pieces as well as mine.room divider made from old single car garage door and fabric
flowers made from pop bottles
various pieces of broken wood things assembled together - the frame was also put together from more than one old frame.
a mask made from lawn chair slats, detergent bottle and caps
A selection of metal artvarious computer parts and other odds and ends. I didn't take pictures of all of them - there were lots more. My camera battery was running low.

You live in a great place. :)
Congrats!!! So glad you were honored with a sale of your art. And a wonderful piece it is too. She'll be happy with it.
I hear you about all the nevrousness over the art being soiled or broken or worse.
Fun stuff there to see, thanks for sharing!!
Congrats on the sale. I am sure your Rooster will sell too. How long is it to be there? Some cool ideas for recycling there.
Congrats on the sale.
The art there is so creative. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Amazing how creative people can be - especially you and that rooster (it's awesome)
brilliant! so glad you sold, (and exhibited too!)
What fun. It is always fun when you sell something. :)
Wow! Nice stuff! You have a great imagination.
I understand why you guys would be nervous. I really don't understand when people bring kids to such things and don't watch them or make them mind.
I work in a store and I see everyday the way parents just leave their kids free rein on everything. Then blame the store for unsafe conditions! Watch your kids!!!
yay!!!!! Congrats on the sale Patty! I've been so behind, sorry.
I have to find your email to send you a weather link. Yikes, you guys are going to get slammed!
Stay safe.♥
