After receiving a bunch of used keys from a key shop, I've redone the chicken with more keys. I was able to layer them to look more like feathers, add a wing and fix up the feet a little. I love that I was able to find two "drumstick" shaped keys for the drumsticks. I found a cabinet face at the ReStore (a store that sells used construction supplies) and got free white paint at the Household Hazardous Waste Reuse facility. I don't think I'll be mounting it on black. My latest plan is to mount it on white and paint a gold stripe around the frame. I thought white would look more chickeny (white picket fences, white farmhouses, white siding) I think it will look good, but who knows. This will be a Saturday project because I'm tied up too much during the weekdays.
I'm thinking about putting chicken wire behind it too. Maybe too much? I can picture it in my mind but sometimes my mind plays tricks on me. Maybe I will paint it black and then still do the gold stripe. Now I'm rethinking my plan. I hate it when that happens! I probably need to lay it out again on solid white background to decide which I like better. Arrrrgh.
