Weeds

Fireweed is one of my favorite plants. It is growing abundantly this year. It was just lining the road and trail heading out to the cabin.

After complaining about our new cabin neighbor who bulldozed all the trees down.....we (this is hard to admit) decided we'd like some of our land cleared too, so we hired him to clear the alders from behind the cabin giving us a better fire break and a clear, flat area to set up a picnic table and space to play. We also had him knock a few of the stumps out from the front....that's not nearly so noticeable. Sweetie planted grass seed and next time we go out it should be green. That little A-frame thing is a shooting target. Sweetie can target practice in his own back yard. You don't know how happy that makes him.

This is the trail coming in. You can see we didn't have him clear too much - still lots of greenery! It is nice to have a lot of the alder gone though. Sweetie could have removed it by hand but it would have taken lots of time to cut all the branches with chainsaw, pull all the roots out and even I (gasp!) would have been put to work hauling branches to the side. Better to bulldoze it I think!

I love it! What a nice improvement. And so nice that he was willing to do it, but what man doesn't want to get on his mantoy and play with it?

Nothing wrong with having a play ground. Everyone needs one of some sort. This will look great with the grass growing. I bet you can't wait to get back out there to see it. What beautiful wildflowers.

That fireweed is sure pretty. Wow. who needs to plant flowers with those around. Its always a good idea to have a fire break and some lawn isnt bad either. :) Enjoy.
