All week I've been wanting to repaint the birch tree picture from my watercolor class last Monday evening. I finally got a chance today. I wanted to try it vertical rather than horizontal and with more yellow than red. Although I loved the painting I did last week, it's not true to color. Birch have yellow leaves in the fall, not red. In fact, you don't see that much red in Alaska unless you are looking at fireweed or Mountain Ash. So here's my second attempt. My husband likes it better than the first. I'm not sure. I like the leaves up high, but am not as happy with the bottom. I need to paint it about 50 more times until I remember and understand all the lessons learned.

I never noticed that the other pic had the brich in red, your right birch is yellow. You would have a hay day here in WI will the fall colores.
I love the tree trunks - you've really got something good going on there. Maybe the bottome needs more detail? either way, it's beautiful
I like the vertical on this one and all the yellow. The trunks are nice too.

You definitely captured the color of the leaves Patty. I like this redo better than the first. Good job.
This is very lovely too. Your right the color is more true, but the view of the first one I really loved.

I like the three trees. You'll strike the balance you're looking for in one of your attempts. Perhaps there should be yellow leaves under the trees and maybe a few shadows?
You've nailed the trunks. I do like this! And yes, we are our own worst critics!
