Spring in Alaska

The official count was 7.5 inches of snow yesterday. We certainly had that much at our house. We were under a "winter weather advisory" all day. We have had snow as late as the first week of May so this isn't totally unexpected. It's just not wanted!

This was before I went to work. The heat from the car engine (I have an automatic car starter) created that split in the snow.

This was taken from outside my church last night. It was really coming down! There are mountains right above that line of trees but you can't see them because the snow is so thick.

And this, dear friends, is what it looks like when you are trying to paint/carpet three rooms of your house. The junk has to go somewhere so it becomes a huge pile in your living room!

OMG, way too much snow!!! YIKES!

Just think you get to go through all this stuff when you put it back, and maybe even get rid of stuff...unless you have a husband like mine that saves everything.

Hope spring comes SOON!

Spring will be coming to you soon! I think I told you before that Apr 15th was always my marker for spring in AK and that's today!! By May 1st those trees will have a beautiful green haze to them, you just wait!!

That snow is simply unbelievable. I do not envy you one iota. And am sorry for your COLD!!!!

And the mess? Ours will be piled to the ceiling!!! I think I might rent a bin you put outside the house and load all the furniture in it for the duration.
HOw we will live in the meantime is beyond me!

Oh Patty, what a pain. Snowed, and the house in disarray. The new carpet looks so nice though!

Just think, I sat out in the yard today. My trees all have green buds on them. The trees that have flowers have little itty bitty flowers. My flowers are coming up in the gardern. Oh, I mean weeds!

Is that a part of a whale I see on your wall? Impressive find. Of course anyone that has a moose in their garden during winter could have a part of a baleen whale in their house. I hope your snow melts fast. This March was the first March in 17 year or so that we didn't have snow. I didn't miss it any.
