Alaska is getting green

Yesterday was the final day of free dumping during Spring Clean Up week. My husband worked 11 hours directing traffic to get all the free dumpers to their spots. I didn't have to work, so I biked to work for the annual BBQ, then I walked around the site to take pictures of all the people in line to dump for free. Then I biked home. It was a beautiful sunny day and I thoroughly enjoyed my first bike ride of the season. Work is 4.8 miles from home so roundtrip I did 9.6 miles. I stopped to take a couple pics of the mountains and the green birch trees. Spring is FINALLY here!
The normal cost to dump a pick-up size load is $16. Some of these people waited over an hour to dump for free. Is it worth it? The gas? The time spent in line? Most of us who work there think they are all crazy, but if you hit it just right you can probably get through in around 15-20 minutes. Maybe that is worth $16.

I work in that building just down the road on your left. On the second floor and my office looks out at the mountains. It is a beautiful place to work...a bit smelly some days, but the scenery makes up for it.

I never did dump trash on free day. Too big of a crowd for me.

Oh, I miss the dump a little . . . not too much though. :)

Quite a bike ride! These days Charlotte rides her bike and I walk very fast to attempt to keep up with her. I believe I might need to start riding along with her.

Happy,happy Spring!

That's the longest line I've ever seen at a dump. I think I'd rather pay the 16 dollars.
