Ashes, ashes, we all fall down!

I didn't take this picture, it came from a friend. This is Mt. Redoubt erupting. The ash cloud at the top is what gets carried by the wind and can come 100 miles to where we are.

Volcano ash from Mt. Redoubt has landed in Anchorage. Although Redoubt has erupted several times over the last week, ash somehow kept going north or south of Anchorage due to the wind direction. Last night however, ash actually landed here about 5:30 pm after Redoubt erupted at 3:00 pm. I went outside to take these pictures and I could feel the grit on my face. The whole sky was hazy with ash.

We just got a light dusting but from the pictures it's easy to see how it can create problems.
This is ash sitting on my windshield and ash on top of my car.

It can create problems by getting into any kind of machinery. You don't want to be driving around in it because ash can get sucked into car engines. Some people put nylons over their air filters in their cars to help keep the ash out.

Most people shut down and cover electronics at home and at work. (I did at work, but haven't done it at home. If my computer dies, it is about time - I want a new one anyways!)

It's hazardous to people with respitory problems because it is so fine. I've been coughing a lot, but I think that's from being sick still. Not the ash.
Here you can see where the dogs went outside after the ash fall.
Hello from Ashy Alaska!

I like your pictures. I can't even imagine what it's like to have ash over everything. Hopefully you will get some rain or snow soon to help clean it up.

Oh Me Gosh! How scary! And only 100 miles away.

Sure is pretty as long as it goes the other way.
On a lighter side, the soil will be very fertile to plant in after ti stops.
Maybe the arctic is melting because of these volcanoes.
Maybe it is real hot underneath and not to do with our cars on the road.

Yuck, looks nasty. The 'Hello' in the snow was interesting. I thought brown dirty snow was bad, but gray snow looks even worse. Hope it melts or washes away fast.

I realize that I am not there in person and I am only seeing at best good photos, but the thought that ran through my mind was, "He gives beauty for ashes".

Your life is such an adventure. I wonder who is going to play you in the real life movie? I'd like Jada Pinket to play me as your blog buddy (smile)

Incredible pictures, especially the ones "you" took!

wonderful to see the photo's of an eruption - even if you didn't take the photo. I can't imagine seeing something like that happening. I hope you don't have to put up with ash for a long time. Interesting site, I will check back in with you.
