Global Warming?

If we are really in a global warming trend, why am I so cold?!!! And please don't send me your explanations of how global warming makes things colder. I can't bear it. At least not today.

It was -15 at my house this morning. The little car protested with some grunting and groaning sounds, but then started after all. However, after work, she was done for the day. We got about 1/2 block from work, it wouldn't shift and the engine light came on. So I pulled over, put it in reverse (it runs better in reverse - go figure) and backed back down the road to my work parking lot.

Then I called my sweetie. I always feel bad when I make those kinds of calls. He is so nice to me, yet I know inside he is screaming "I hate working on cars!" and especially so when it's -15 out. He was kind and told me to leave it for him, he'd look at it when he got off work. He gets off 2 hours after I do.

I called my son who promptly came to pick me up. Meanwhile, two other guys at work offered to give me a jump or help me out. Most people assume your battery is dead in this cold weather. But alas, it wasn't. Even I know how to jump batteries, so I know that's a fairly easy fix.

Turns out Tim was able to sneak out and look at it while I was still there. He put in a quart of transmission fluid and like magic, my little car came back to life. Apparently I have a transmission fluid leak. I drove it home and here I am warm and cozy in my house. I'll need to schedule a visit to the auto shop.

By the way, I paid $2.33 per gallon for gas today. Are you all paying way less than that? I keep hearing that Alaska still has the highest prices but it's getting a bit old. I think we are getting snookered.

We just jumped back up to $1.75 after being around $1.55. The Sam's Club is supposed to be at $1.52, though.

We've been pretty lucky about not getting below zero too often so far this winter.

Good thing you have guys who can help you out. Makes life easier (says the lady who married a guy who can repair the dishwasher and bake a loaf of bread and rebuild the lawn mower all in the same day). :)

Sub zero weather is hard on everything, cars included. I'm glad your hubby could fix the problem...make sure you reward him, hee, hee!

I think gas prices around here are about $1.79. That's the only good thing about our economy right now is that the price of gas has gone down.

it was anti-freeze in the oil....I had kind of forgotten about that. Bet Tim hasn't though! I guess that story may need to come out sooner or later.

Hello to my sisters and other commenters on my sisters blog. Sorry but I just got to laugh it is now -52 F and I have spent the day thawing out drains and fixing a "stupid" mans new fangled way of putting in a water system. What kind of idiot runs water lines on an outside wall with no insulation and no SHUT OFF valve. I am blonde, old and female and I EVEN KNOW better than that. Okay I'm kinda gray but more blonde than gray and aging gracefully snort!!! Watch the weather that Aunt Krissy has for Tok and I bet you see a high of -65 over the next few days...thats what they are calling for here and I love it. No one goes to work and no one comes by and bugs you and an answering machine takes care of call screening. I might even get something done...... by the way gas in Tok $2.69 a gal if you have a card for the reader kind of pump and $2.71 cash. (Two different stations but not everyone has plastic here as the only bank is a savings and loan with no checking. The last full time bank made it three hours and got robbed. Never did open again. go figure......

ooops I forgot has your tires gone flat because its too cold yet? and please have Tim check your antifreeze. Before I moved here I knew it would get cold real cold so my antifreeze is good to -60 had a friend yesterday break down cause his antifreeze was only good to -30 and he is to proud to have a bra on the front of his truck. Goes to show not all men are as good as your hubby. I think all my Brothers-in-laws are the best cause they do all try their best to take care of my sisters. Hey I just figured out that it is a 120 degree change from inside to outside temps....its time to stoke the wood stove so the oil heater doesn't have to work so hard heeheehee Just me
