Wind - Love it or Hate it?

It's a very windy day in Anchorage, Alaska. The trees are swaying, the house is creaking and I can hear things outside thumping and bumping around. We are supposed to be getting another winter storm with more snow.

My husband hates the wind. I don't really understand why he hates it so much, but he really does. He tells me it's because he can't hear as well. When he's out hunting or walking in the woods, he is on high alert, listening to every little sound. The wind makes that hard to do. I think it's also because it could blow tarps off of things, roofing material off the roof, and damage things. I never worry about that kind of stuff, but he does.

I, on the other hand, love the wind. It always makes things smell fresh and clean and it makes me happy. I think I like it because when we lived on a sailboat we always hoped for wind. Wind was good. Not too much, that would be a storm. A good stiff breeze meant the boat moved fast and helped keep us cool.

Our dogs hate the wind too. Maryann is scared of all the little sounds (she's not a very tough dog for an American Bulldog!) and it makes the other two "woof" every time something bumps around outside. It promises to be a restless night for us all.

Don't forget! Wind means no bugs! I also like the wind. That 1st warm wind in the early spring? that will start to melt the snow?

I'm like Tim, the wind makes it hard for me to hear every little detail. Our cat also get exceptionally "wild" when it's windy outside. The wind makes everything move so kitty wants to play with all the moving things outside! I don't like wind chill!!!
