Popcorn Trees

popcornus treeus, blancus
The very rare popcorn tree (popcornus treeus - this is the blancus variety) can be found in our parking lot at work. It is highly unusual to be able to capture it in "popping" mode. But there you have it. My excellent photography skills have provided to you this amazing photo of the popcorn tree in action. I may submit it to National Geographic.

Pros and Cons to working at a Garbage Utility:

PRO
You can get free stuff
Laid-back and relaxed place to work
100 fun co-workers
No life or death decisions
Regular hours
Happy workers
Viewing wildlife

CON
Most of the free stuff is junk. Why does he bring it home?
It smells.....bad. Sometimes it even smells in the office.
Some of the co-workers are crazy nuts.
The general public goes ballistic over "covered load" ordinance or being required to wear a safety vest while unloading commercially.
Only closed Christmas and New Years and every Sunday. People want their garbage gone.
It takes a l-o-n-g time to move up in seniority - very few people quit.
Eagles, ravens and seagulls are scavengers. They eat GARBAGE.

I put the Latin descriptions in for you, Mom.

I've never thought of garbage from that prospective! Garbage disposal is so important in our society. Thanks Patty for your insight to everyday garbage. We Americans are so spoiled. We throw our garbage away, and then never think of where it actually goes or who deals with it. I'm glad you like your job...the pros look to outweight the cons.
