Husband's Truck

The picture has nothing to do with my husband's truck, but I like it anyways. This is the front entrance to my work place and this is at 4:30 pm. I turned around and took the pic as I was leaving work.

We are sharing the truck for awhile since Becky and Travis are in town. We have loaned them my car. Since we work at the same location it seemed logical for Tim and I to carpool. His shift starts 1/2 hour later than mine, but I get off 2 hours earlier than he. So I have to go back to work and pick him up at 6:30 pm.

Today I had to run an errand on my lunch break. I don't often drive Tim's truck so am a little unfamiliar with where everything is at. For instance his wipers are where my blinkers are. I kept turning on the wipers when I signalled a turn. But that's minor. Oh, I had trouble opening the door in the dark last night too because I couldn't find his door handle. It's not where it should be. Who designs these things anyways?

My errand today was FedEx. (J & J - your package should arrive Tuesday before noon!) Tim had briefly showed me how to put it in 4-wheel drive which he regularly does at stoplights so he can get going quickly on the ice. Then he pops it into 2-wheel drive so as not to waste gas. He is very frugal. So, I put it into 4-wheel drive in the parking lot and it worked. I put it back into 2-wheel. Voila! I'm an expert.......until I got to the first busy intersection with several cars behind me waiting on the left turn green light. The light turned green, but my truck didn't go. I had somehow knocked it into NEUTRAL instead of 4-wheel drive. Then I couldn't get the shifter thingy to move....it made a little (ok, it was loud grinding sound (don't tell Tim!) Meanwhile the little trash baggy is hanging right over the shifter thingy so I can't see where I have it. I threw that across the front seat. Then his hat with velcro chin straps attached itself to my right glove and was swinging around while I'm frantically trying to move the shifter. On top of all that, the highly irritating seatbelt is cutting into my shoulder because this truck is made for a MAN, not a 5'2" lady. I could barely reach the shifty thingy so I had to slip the shoulder belt under my armpit.

Needless to say I was VERY CRANKY at this point. The hat flew across the cab also. I may have screeched "I HATE THIS TRUCK" or something like that. I was finally able to get it to move forward into the Low 4-wheel drive slot. I got through the light but was afraid to try shifting it on the fly because each time I reached for it, it made loud grinding noises. I'm not an expert, but I know that's not good. So finally, at the next light, I flipped down the visor where it has the instructions and was able to gently slip it into the proper 4-wheel drive slot. And I left it there for a long time. I'm not as frugal as Tim.

I had a really bad experience with my husbands new truck 24 years ago. I was learning how to drive his new Nissan truck (stick shift) and I went into a spin....right after a Semi truck forced me off the snowy highway. I never drove his new truck again! It's hard to drive our spouses vehicle when your not familar with it.

I hate it when that type of stuff happens.....I am laughing so hard I can't spell.....just because I have been there and Its just not right when the in a hurry honker behind you doesn't get it that they will just have to wait for once. One of the reasons I live where I do NO STOP LIGHTS and on the main intersection is a stop sign. Its kinda fun for the tourists trying to decide whether the semi or they have right of way. I need to come to town if that is what cracks me up now a days. Just waiting on one more package that should be here by Wednesday and than I'm on the road south. Got a list of things to get for everyday living but thats it. No present shopping for me. I think I would not do well in a mall at this time as I am old enough now to get cranky in faces....AARP just sent me my card for senior citizen.....I may be getting older but I am not going to grow up okay maybe just a little bit so I don't embaress the kids Will be at Grandma's Christmas Eve with my family...JT, Kammi and the G-Kid and I do think a lunch is in order I really like the Greek Gardens Lemon Chicken Soup and lots of salad with Feta. With only one store and restaraunt I dream about the things I can't have here because a) they just don't serve it or b) they just don't sell it so I can make it myself..

Whose the G-kid? Do I know him, her? I've never been to Greek Gardens- that sounds good. I had a lemon orzo soup once that was delicious. In fact, I have a recipe but Tim wasn't crazy about it so I've never made it again.

Her name is Kierrah and She instists that I am not her grandmother and as you know I am not....But she did not want to call me JohnThomas'Mom (She does not call him JT) and decided that I was G-Ma so I call her G-kid. I like this kid alot. She does not know it yet but I am bringing all the stuff with me to make a Gingerbread house and sugar cookies and WE are going to decorate together. One of the things on my list to get, Pastry bag and tips as the store bought frostings just gets frustrating to use for both of us.

One time I had to use my husbands car and I couldn't remember how to turn the brights off. (It was night time.) So every car I past I blazed them. Hope they were'nt to mad. I kept saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." But of course they couldn't hear me.
