Good Books

I enjoy reading a variety of books, although I don't spend nearly as much time reading as I would like. I usually have too many other projects that demand my time or housework to do. A lot of the time I can put off the housework, but eventually it catches up to me.

The Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers is one of my favorites. It's comprised of three books; A Voice in the Wind, An Echo in the Darkness and As Sure as the Dawn. I was first introduced to this author by my now daughter-in-law Becky.
The books are historical fiction set in the time shortly after Jesus Christ has been crucified and when Christians have to meet in secret or risk being killed. The main character is a Christian Jewish girl who is sold into slavery. A strong second character is a German man who is captured and forced to fight as a gladiator. Their paths eventually cross (not romantically) and the final book is more his story then hers.

I found the books to be very entertaining, as well as historically enlightening, and spiritually encouraging. I've read them through twice and am thinking about starting them again, but first I have to get a few more Christmas projects done. And housework.

I like Francine Rivers too. I read the Lineage of Grace series. Now you have me thinking that I need to read this other series....sounds really good.

I started with Last of the Sin Eaters and have also read Redeeming Love. Both were good but I think I like the Mark of the Lion series best. So far. I haven't read any of the Lineage of Grace series. I'll have to check them out.
