Wind wins - Tree 0

There has been an ongoing battle with the moose over my May Day tree in the front yard.  A few years back a moose had stripped the bark clear around it which caused the main tree to die.  A branch that was below the dead area took off and grew and grew, but that one side still remained dried out and dead.  Sweetie knew it wasn't going to last and we thought about replacing it this fall with a Weeping Birch.  Well, it's time to replace it.  We had high winds last night and the little tree went over.  Missed our neighbors truck by a few feet...YAY for us!

Now I need to go to the greenhouse and see if I can get a Weeping Birch.

Poor Tree but your new tree will look really nice and I'm sure the moose will love to munch on it too.

Is a weeping birch one of them?

Poor thing.. It really wanted to live too. I don't know how any of you have any trees around there with the moose eating them. Happy planting. :)

Gosh, the lawn looks like a big green carpet that has a lump under it where the roots are pulled up. Your poor tree. I hope you find the replacement in time to plant before winter.

Yeah I heard you all had some whopper high winds! My brother had a tree go down and took out a fence plus the neighbors swingset. and another into the street.
Glad your's missed the neighbors truck!

I do love the way it's yanked up the green grass carpet - that's so funny. but having a tree come down is alot of work! glad it missed the truck.
