While
at the cabin, I took some time to sketch several of the little
wildflowers around the place, then I applied watercolor. This sketch
journal is not intended to get wet, so the pages kind of buckle when I
do watercolor. I looked and looked for my "Field Guide to Alaskan
Wildflowers" but couldn't find it. I only know the names of some of
these.
I have a couple of iris bushes that were growing beautifully. Usually I'm not there when they are blooming.
I found this robin's nest up on one of the logs of our little cabin - the babies have all flown the nest.
And this is our little cabin, the first one Tim built. I still love it although it's much smaller than the second cabin.

ReplyDeletePS, I got curious and embiggined your sketches. The chocolate lily sounds yummy. I think the flower you drew with the flowers below the leaves is Soloman's Seal. At least your drawing looks just like them. Hope this helps.

P.S. I think that purple one above the Solomon's Seal looks like a Wild Geranium. The "Midnight Sun" pics are so lovely.

ReplyDeleteWonderful sketches!!! Chyann has started a school project July 1 to collect 50 wildflowers by the start of school! She has to press them between the pages of an old phone book. We are diligently looking daily!!
