Sunday sketching

Today I drew a man who should be familiar to my husband, yet when I showed him the picture he did not know who it was.  Which goes to show that the drawing is not a very good likeness.  I do believe I captured some of it right here and there but the overall affect is off.  It's my brother-in-law. This is why I do not like to draw family, everyone knows their faces so well that it really has to be perfect for it to work.  When it's a total stranger, nobody knows if you did it well or not!

A week ago I had lunch at the Japanese counter in the food court at a mall.  I chose the Bento Box #3 which had three gyozas, two tempura shrimp on a bed of fried rice and a small green salad.  The salad was fine, the gyozas were good, the shrimp was ok....but by the time I started on the rice I was not feeling well at all.  I threw the rest of the lunch away and went back to work.  But I kept feeling worse and worse and nauseous.  I left work early and came home, by then my upper abdomen was hurting very badly.  A few hours later I decided to go to the Urgent Care facility near my home.  After much prodding I was given some pain killers and instructed to do blood tests the following day, which all came back normal. I hurt all the next week.  After more tests and an ultra sound, it has been decided that I need to have my gall bladder removed.  I was so relieved to find out that something really was wrong.  So this week I'm having surgery - don't yet know which day for sure.  I've got an appt on Tuesday to figure it all out.

Sorry to hear you are feeling unwell. I have had this surgery, many years ago. It is so simple now. I wish you the best of luck with no complications.

Your sketches are good. I will think twice about these bento boxes now though. :)

Hey mom, I actually thought your sketch looked somewhat like Uncle Jim at first glance then decided it must have been someone else. Love you!

I am sorry you have to undergo surgery!
I hope all will go well and that you will feel better soon!
I think your sketches are great but I agree when you draw family the faces are already engraved in everyone's memory, so it will be more difficult.
Take care and get well soon!

I knew it was Jim as soon as I saw the picture! I had my Gallbladdr out two summers ago - it was a breeze! Dr Meneker did it and I could have gone back to work the next day. :)

Sorry, I didn't see Jim in that pic, untill you said it was him, then I could see some of him in it.

I think your drawings are fantastic--such talent. Bet I could've recognized him :-)

Well I missed this post somehow. Bummer about the gallbladder. Hoping all goes well and healing is quick.

oh that sucks.
I guess now you will have to be careful what you eat. No more spices.
