Bad night - no electricity

The electric company took until midnight to make it to our house to check out our partial power outage. Turns out that with all this cold weather, the frost heaves have pushed the piping from below the meter boxes up into the boxes thus creating a very dangerous situation. They shut our power off completely at 12:30am with apologies.

Then we had to call someone out for repairs - we got someone and paid 4 hours at the emergency night rate to set us up so we could run off a generator since it is going to take awhile to do the meter box replacement. That guy finally left at 4:30am. We didn't have a generator so in an effort to share our misery we called my sister at 3:00 am and asked to borrow their generator.

This morning I finally went back to bed and slept for an hour before I had to get up and call the repair shop to schedule our repairs for today. I am grumpy and tired and still don't feel good and getting a headache. You don't quite appreciate how cold -10 is until your heat goes out, then it's a mad rush to keep the house warm so your pipes don't freeze, which would create much bigger problems.

Back to bed now. The serviceman can't come until later today.

Sleep Devrivation is NO fun! Especially when you need to keep warm too. Keep well!

I hope they have it fixed by now. Thank goodness they at least made it so you could use a generator. I hope this didnt make your cold worse.

Oh that's terrible .
I would be so equipped living out there with a franklin stove, solar panels and a generator.
I don't like the gas company and they bought into the cheaper electric company so nothing is sacred.

OMG, you poor baby. You will have to get the dogs in bed with you to help keep you warm. Darn the luck. You are lucky that your sister has a generator. I hope they have it all fixed by now. The poor repairman too.
