We had such a relaxing time at the cabin this past weekend. I read two whole books which I don't get to do very often. I also played with my watercolors. This is the wood stove that replaces the poorly working oil stove. Usually you would have the door shut, but you can leave it open and enjoy the flames too. I'm going to make a tile mat that will go under the stove to protect the wood floor from getting too hot.
My sister Kris asked, "can you see the next door cabin from the window?" Why yes, you can!
We got a little snow overnight while we were there. Mine is the Skandic, otherwise know as the "granny" machine.
These are pics of our ride back out to the truck. The lake turns into a highway for snowmachiners. This is the lake.....
Lots of trucks and trailers doing the same thing we are. There can be a hundred trucks in the lot and you still might only see 15 or 20 riders the whole weekend. There is lots of space for riding.
This is how the dogs ride....they don't like it much. Roxy will go in the kennel no problem, but she's done it many times before. Taz didn't like it much, it was her first trip going for a ride in the back of the sled. She's capable of running the trail and we'll probably let her do some running next time.

Such an interestng life in the snow country...absolutely not my melieu but very beautiful to see. All that cold is too much for my wee bones! ;-) Glad you enjoyed yourselves and had such a good time.
wow.. lots of snow!! we hope to get up to our cabin soon.
if you have glass on your wood stove door, use Easy Off oven cleaner on it... leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and the black comes off easily!! I love our wood stove at home, but glad our oil stove works well at the cabin.

What a lovely weekend. I could do this and be quite happy. I am amazed that the lake is frozen enough to run your machines over it. Poor Taz still has lots to learn. The wood fire looks very cozy.
Oh gosh! How I would have loved to sit with you by that crackling fire over looking a peaceful scenery such as this!! And its a great life for the dogs too.
You are soo lucky !!!
You needed that get away with all you have been doing. Its nice to be able to just sit and read with no guilt feelings of ..I should be doing this and that..what ever it is we think we have to do. Lots of lovely photos. I grew up in snow country but sure dont miss it. We get enough here to satisfy me.. Maybe a half day twice a year.. :)
Looks like fun Patty!
