Art Show tomorrow night

The First Friday Recycle-Revamp-Restore Art Show opens tomorrow night. The opening reception is from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the International Gallery of Contemporary Art, 427 D Street. The art is for sale and will be on display for the entire month of November. I've got two pieces in it - I'll post pics tomorrow after the show.

I ended up adding a glass front to the Fancy Rooster made of keys - people were just too tempted to touch it. I had the art displayed at work for a day; one little boy came in and his dad let him touch and feel the keys. I wasn't around at the moment but a wary co-worker suggested to them that they probably shouldn't touch it, so he stopped.

When I took the art to the gallery for hanging I was stupid (in my defense it was windy and cold) and tried to carry them both in at the same time. I couldn't get my car door shut so swung against it with my hip.....and banged the key art against the car. I heard little metallic tinkling sounds and realized I had banged it hard enough to dislodge some keys. Good thing I had added glass to the front or I would have lost the little keys in the snow. I took it back home and had to re-glue it.

Both pieces are now safely at the gallery. I'm told both are already sold but I'll have to wait and see if the buyers actually show up with money in hand. It would be awesome to have them both sell the first night of the show. Then I'll know to charge more next time! I ended up putting a price tag of $250 on the Weeping Willow and $200 on the Fancy Rooster. That is in line with other art at the show....for the most part. I saw some over priced (in my opinion) stuff but it's possible the artist just doesn't want to sell it, so priced it higher than they thought someone would pay.

I am sure you will sell those pieces. They were fabulous. Never thought about people touching it but I guess they would call to people to touch like a wet paint sign does. :))Keep us posted.

I always like to touch. I guess they would call me a toucher lol
but I know better cause you do not want sticky fingers on your work.
That's a good price to charge for them Covers the cost plus a little bit more for yourself.
