Artist's Journal

I started an Artist's Journal after seeing what Teri at Painted Daisies and Lynn at Getting My Feet Wet have been doing. I purchased the book Artist's Journal Workshop by Cathy Johnson and really enjoyed it. Since we were at the cabin this weekend, I thought it was a good time to read and draw.
Also, July 23rd was a Sketch Crawl day across the world, but since nothing like that ever goes on in Anchorage, I decided to have my own sketch crawl in the woods at the cabin, all by myself. So I did four pages of sketches and had lots of fun.....except for the mosquitoes and biting gnats.I tried out my new waterbrush for the first time and really liked it...however I was using paper not meant for water so it warped my paper quite a bit while drying. I didn't post the fourth page because I don't like it...but I'm keeping it in my journal to show me how I improve over time. I hope. I still may rip it out.

Your drawing is wonderful. Yes you dont have to show everything you do. It is for you after all. You should feel free to do what ever in your own journal and show it if you want... that way it keeps it fun. Keep up the great work.

Your journal work is great Patty. I have meant to purchase Cathys new book. I have a couple other books of hers. I sometimes leave horrid pages but if they really put me on edge I tear them out. It is your book so you can do what you want to. :) Can't wait to see more.

These are great pages Patty. I am so happy you got the book, it is so inspiring. That page with the gun, stove, and lantern is fab. And hey, you should see the pages I don't post. It is your journal so you can do what you want.

Happy journaling and sketching.

Patty, I love your "weeds" too! I just drew/painted more because there are so many coming up right now. Still have to photo them for the blog.
You are such a talented artist--the drawings are just awesome.

I think that whatever you do is just the bestest ever! But then, I am your sister and I'm worried that you might beat me up if I don't tell you how wonderful it all is!

Your flowers and leaves are publish worthy; and your sketches supurb!
Wow, gal, you keep going. I keep the ones that aren't so good either for the same purpose!
