Marian O'Connell, artist

I received the annual Christmas card from my Aunt Marian today and thought I'd brag on her a bit. I'm so honored to have her as my Aunt! She is my Dad's sister and I know I didn't get my artistic talent from my Dad (he draws passable stick figures but that's about it) so I'm assuming I got my love of art from Aunt Marian or my Grandpa on my mom's side. He painted some in oils but I've only seen a few pieces.

Marian O'Connell lives in Rhode Island and is having an exhibit at the Newport Art Museum in Newport, RI from January 15-March 20, 2011. If any of you live in the area, I encourage you to go see it. She paints in oil and watercolor and makes prints, mostly intaglio and mono (I think). I'm not really into print making so I don't know all the terms.
Her show will include several art books; one of the pieces is Onion Domes, an accordion book that is hand printed and then painted with gold highlights. I really love the look of these!
This is last year's card; Russian Orthodox Church - she must have been scoping out Onion Domes prior to this show! This year the card is Flyer. Each year she makes either 100 or 125 prints, some are additionally hand colored with inks or paint. I am proud to own several of her original pieces.
