Country road, take me home....

These are pictures of the property we purchased in Missouri. It is 40 acres with a mix of woods and fields. More fields than woods. It has a little pond that my husband and his brothers and cousins fished in when they were children. Uncle Jack threw a couple lawn chairs in the back of his truck so my mother-in-law Janice and I had seats. The rest of the gang sat on the walls of the pickup bed. We took the grand tour and I took pics all along. We don't know yet what we are going to do with it; maybe raise some beef, maybe plant soybeans, maybe leave it as is and let Uncle Jack use it for hay....nothing is definate at this point. We may someday build a house on it, but right now the important thing is just paying it off before we retire.

WARNING: some of this will be boring! It's just pics of trees and fields (and my family). The key to remember is that these are MY trees and fields so they are important to me!

This is an abandoned church just across the fence from us. There is a cemetery on the other side that holds several of my husbands family.
between field and woods. We saw three deer on the property.

Well, I didn't think the pictures were boring, but I was in them, so my opinion doesn't really count:) I love the one Travis took of us all sitting in the truck bed!

Everything looks beautiful and it is ALL yours! When do you plan on moving there?

We don't plan to move there for another 10 years or so....I keep bargaining for less, my husband (the realistic one) keeps saying it may be 10-12 years.

There is something about your own land that is just so comforting.

You have a great idea and this is a great place to go home away from home.
You can do so much stuff on it.I'd put a few small fish into the pond. and plant some apple trees oak and
mint. Since it is still wild, planting perennials and letting them naturally propogate for 10 years is a swell idea and will not cost much.

NOw I need to start looking for land down there, so I can "pop" over to your place to get a cup of sugar.

You have so much to look forward to Patty. What a beautiful place, never boring. To have so much life an history together will feel magical when you finally get to live there.

I just looked up Missouri and that is far from Alaska! Will you live there after retirement?
Cool to have your own place ! And then you will live near your children.

I thought it was fun to see all the pics!

Loved the photo's! I think your trees and land are beautiful. What kind of fruit trees grow in that area? That is what I would plant. Maybe that is just because I have lived here all my life and want what I've never had. Oh yea - Lots of melons!!!!!!!!!!!!
