Watercolor clouds

I attempted a watercolor painting this weekend. I started this with the clouds and then moved down to mountains, water and foreground. I had to scan it in two pieces since my scanner isn't big enough for the full painting. (please disregard the window pane effect!) I was pleased with the clouds and my first attempt at them. Not so pleased with the mountains. They were much bluer in real life but I was having a hard time getting the right color...then I overdid them by putting more color on top (several times) and not waiting for underlying paint to dry so I ended up with some muddy messes.

Practice makes perfect. I will try, try again. My watercolor class starts next Monday evening! Woooo Hooooo!

Wow it looks wonderful!
To me those mountains seem good :)
but maybe it is that you know how the color should be in real....
Have fun at your class!

I think this looks pretty darned good. Clouds are difficult to do I think. You got the crevases in the mountins going. I can't wait to see what you do in your painting class.

I like the window pane effect! It's like looking out your living room window! Hey, that might be a neat series for you to start - what's out your window?

GOOD morning Patty. I love the Water Color. I think you're great at it, but oftentimes we are harder on ourselves than we truly deserve. You are so very talented and I for one think that you should be the instructor. But have fun in your class.

I just checked your post for 8/17 and I'm so very sorry to hear about Panda. I know that you and your family miss her dearly and that the emptiness feels so strange. It's hard to put into words but just looking around at all the places that she' supposed to be is the hardest. At least for me. I feel like Max should be looking out the window and waiting for my red car to pull into the garage.

The loss is truly an experience I cannot put into words, but GOD has a plan and the joy of having pets is far greater than anything I've ever felt, aside from the Love of Jesus ;-)

Love and hugs,
China.

PS I know how you feel about this summer, it wasn't a good one for me either. I'm looking forward to fall and a fresh start.

I will keep you in prayer!

It looks beautiful! I love how the clouds are hanging over the mountains and I know they do just that.

Well it looks good to me. I love the window affect. Almost like a Triptic. Altho I know its one painting. Cant wait to see what you come up with after your classes if this is this good.

I too like the "window" look. You can always send me your work that you think is not very good. Frame it first would ya?
