Oh Happy Day!

I slept lousy last night. I was laying awake thinking about employee issues at work. Woke up cranky and then checked my email....OH HAPPY DAY! I received my royalty statement from my publisher.

I've sold 20 Song of the Raven books and 240 Carina in the past month. That's not 100% accurate; it really means that the different book stores paid the distributor for that many books. I may have sold less and some may have sold the month before, but the money came in August, so I get a royalty check for August sales.

It's not full price either so don't think I'm rich yet. I get 70% of the wholesale price, which can be as little as $6.46 per book. Different sized bookstores have different wholesale prices, depending on how many they order, so it gets kind of confusing to figure it all out.

But still! I'm extremely pleased! I'm excited for my next book signing which is on Saturday, Sept 25. It's a craft bazaar, the first big one of the season. It's called the Fall Blaze of Color in the Egan Center in downtown Anchorage. Wish me luck!

Terrific. A shame that authors get so little of the sale price of a book. But hope it all adds up to big bucks soon.

I saw a woman in a shop in SF where we stopped for lunch last weekend sitting at a table with her recently published book to tout.
It was a cook book, and she had a plate of cookies out from one of her receipes. The cookies drew me to her. I think cookies are a good idea even it's a book about a family who goes sailing. They could be a recipe your mom used on the boat...:-) Make it up if you have to. cookies worked.
