Panda

I was just woken abruptly at 3:30 am with loud bang to my bedroom door. Panda had another seizure. This time there were no dog rawhide treats so my veterinarian must be right, that was just a coincidence. I think she only had one seizure and I've just doped her up with diazapam so now she's a bit loopy.....(very happy). She keeps laying by me and lovingly looking up at me and wagging her tail. I like her happy, but I'd rather she not be loopy.

I remember the vet telling me that most dogs who are epileptic and are going to have seizures for life will start as young dogs. This makes me think she's got something else going on....like a brain tumor or something. Another thing she does that is odd is she sometimes makes a sharp yelp like she's in pain when nothing has happened. I've always thought maybe she just stepped on something sharp, or had a muscle cramp or something. But she just did it a second ago while sitting next to me all loopy.

I'm worried for my sweet Panda dog. I also have a migraine so I'm going back to bed. I'm sure she's relaxed enough not to have another seizure. And I just took my meds (which MAY cause drowsiness) and I'm gonna sleep good for the rest of the night!

Poor Panda. My cat use to yelp like that when her kidney's were starting to fail. It does sound like something else is going on.

Sorry you are feeling ill with the migraine. Get some rest PA.

Hi Patty...It's me, Teri! I got the book you sent on Friday and yes, I have one here to send to you...I am about half way through it--Lolo didn't know how slow a reader I am when I said, Sure I'd like to join in on this book thing :-)

Of course, if you read on my (cats) blog, you will see the last 2 weeks for me have been a bit stressful and busy being nurse to kitties, but things are looking up and I should be able to finish it and get it off to you soon...I am enjoying it so far.

Warmfelines,
Teri

Ps: Hope Panda hangs in there and nothing worsens for a long time to come. You are right about older age onset of seizures, though...might be something hidden inside that is causing them.

Sometimes it helps to keep them confined to a favorite room when you are away, so you can possibly tell if they have one in your absence--knocked over things, elimination where they usually are good about not going in the house, and mark them down on your calendar so you know when they've occurred as it's easy to lose track.

Valium takes a few days to a week or so before the wobbliness and lethargy subsides. Brighton has been on it for 7 days and is still a bit unsteady but much better than the first few days.

Oh nothing worse than a sick dog. It makes you feel so bad.
My dog had something wrong with her eye. She was happy one moment and then feeling bad and sleeping with a damaged eye.
I thought the cat did it to her though he is very used to her play jumping on him.So we pampered her and cried over her damaged eye and prayed a lot for 2 weeks. Now she is fine and good as new. and I am so thankful she still has her eye.
