Global Greetings

I think our Global Greetings group has finished this session. The last post was April 29 and I think most of us had finished sending out our cards. There was a group of 11 of us who agreed to send art postcards, one per week to each of the other members. I used this experience to experiment with different art forms. I've never collaged before and tried it out here for the first time. I also used my new watercolor pencils, created a zentangle and did one paper cutting. Here are 9 of the 10 I sent out. (I forgot to scan one of them prior to sending it and that recipient has still never posted it so I don't know if it was received or not.)

Zentangle sent to Suki in NH (pen and ink wild imagination)

All Things Belong to Cats collage sent to Mim in MA (collage)

Papercutting sent to Marianne in The Netherlands (combination of papercutting, collage and accented with a gold pen)

Queen of Arts sent to Lynn in CA (for me this one was the funnest to make! I planned it all out one night when I couldn't sleep)

Raven Totem sent to LoLo in RI (combination of photo, stamps and collage)

Spring Colors sent to Lisa in IN (these are pieces of dresses cut from a fashion catalog)

Elephants sent to Joss in the United Kingdom (this one didn't make it through in one piece - it was quite mangled when she posted it!)
Sunset Sailboat sent to Caroline in Malaysia (watercolor pencils)

Surprised Toto sent to Cat in FL (half of one dancing mouse didn't make it and the other was lost in space! It started with 2 dancing mice)

Tomorrow I'll post the 9 that I received. It was great fun to check the mail everyday to see if I had a piece of art mailed to me from somewhere else in the world. The challenge with postcards is to create something that will withstand the sometimes harsh handling by all sorts of people. Most of the cards went through well but all of us experienced some disappointment in seeing our works of art mangled by the time it reached the other end!
