Biked to work!

I biked to work again today...this was only Day 2 for me. It was a beautiful, sunny 79 degrees today! That doesn't happen often in Anchorage so I'm going to enjoy it to the fullest. ( I also stopped drinking soda today - we'll see how long that lasts!)

I thought you might like to see my route so I stopped and took a few pictures along the way.
Here's the park I go through just after leaving my house.
Then I turn onto this road. This is the worst part for me. It's slightly uphill and I bike on the sidewalk right next to all the morning traffic. On the way home I'm always bucking a headwind.
Then I go through this tunnel under Minnesota Blvd.
Here's the view coming out of the tunnel.
The next segment is along this road, but I have a nice bike trail/sidewalk to ride on.
Then I cross the tracks. This feels like halfway there to me. I dread hearing the train as I come near because it may beat me and then I'll have to stand here a wait for the train to pass.
From the tracks I ride along another busy highway and cross at that light. Then there's an industrial area, a residential area and then.....
Another park with bike trail. This trail follows Campbell Creek.
Here's the little bridge over Campbell Creek - I turned around because the sun was so bright I couldn't take a pic from the other side.
Then along the highway again for a short distance and down this final road to work. It's 4.5 miles and took me 35 minutes this morning, but I stopped to take all these pictures. I really enjoyed my ride and plan to do it again tomorrow.

If you keep riding to work this summer you are going to feel so darned healthy. I envy you your commute. What beautiful scenery. I should do the same...ride to work I mean. Nothing pretty about my commute though.

Thats a pretty ride for most of it. Good for you going for more days. Soon it will be quicker and seem like you have done it for years.

Do it again! Do it again! Do it again! It's fun isn't it? Like being a kid again exploring the neighbourhood....

That looks like such a pleasant ride and not too much road time with cars. If I had a nice trail like that, I might be more inspired to go biking.

I have the exact same feelings as Krissy! That picture you took of the view after the tunnel just gave me a pang of home-sickness. Double sigh.
