Moose, friend or foe?

Last night our dogs woke us up a few times with barking. I suspected a moose was in the yard and even got up to check once but I didn't see a moose.

This morning I looked out at my May Day tree (which is supposed to be moose resistant) and look at what I find! Broken and chewed branches and tell-tale tracks leading to and from the little tree. This tree used to be much bigger but one winter a moose stripped the bark clear around the trunk and killed it. My husband cut if off and the side branch continued to grow. (you can see the cut trunk just above the snow surface)

Drat those moose!

I'm so sorry about your tree...I'm still excited about the fact that Moose come in your yard! I love it! That is soooo cool!

My goodness, not sure how i'd react with a MOOSE tromping around that close to MY HOUSE!!!! I think I'd be hiding in the attic. I am not brave around wild life at all.
See, those spindly trees dont' stand a chance. I'm sure they'd think my fat bod DINNER for sure!

Oh those rotten moose! My Dad is having that problem now too. Those moose must be hungry.

I don't want to hear anyone complaining about the deer in their garden. Think about a moose. Goodness. What destruction they can cause. Poor things are hungry.

It is so disappointing isn't it? We have had a lot of ash trees destroyed by deer, but moose are at least more exciting!!
