Goldfish almost

I almost bought a goldfish today. After painting and drawing goldfish the other day I got a hankering for a goldfish.

We had to go to WalMart today and while my husband was looking in the gun/knife/camping/hunting section I went and got some groceries, looked at clothes and craft supplies and stopped by the pet section. The little goldfish were beckoning me in all their shiny gold. Several dead goldfish at the bottom of the tank kept me from moving forward. Unfortunately, often the fish tanks at WalMart don't look very healthy. I think it depends on whomever they have working the fish section....someone who really likes animals and cares about their well-being or someone who just needed a job.

Crisis adverted. No new fish in my home. Tim leaves in a week for a hunting trip....what do you want to bet that I'll have goldfish by the time he arrives home? It's very hard to restrain myself when he's not here to remind me how much I hate cleaning fish tanks.

Good choice not getting fish.

What is your honey hunting for this time and where is he going?

He is off to N Dakota for pheasant, duck, goose or whatever else is available. He has a good friend who lives there and invited him down.

Good luck with your goldfish. Your picture and just talking about them makes me want one again too.

Patty. is the construction done yet at the Walmart on Dimond/Old Seward? I'm hoping to get up to a hockey game sometime this month, so will hit that. The walmart in Kenai is supposed to be open around Feb or so. wish they'd get it done before Christmas. Oh well.. another trip to Anchorage!

Rose - construction is mostly complete - I like the new store. The only part still undone is a small portion of the grocery section - I think that's where the fresh food will be - all the boxed, canned and frozen is already in.

We had a fish tank for many years and my husband spent lot of time trying to keep it nice and clean.I think fish are too much work!

Good choice in not purchasing fish at Wal-Mart.

Patty, you want birds? Linda in CO will be happy to send you 2 or 3 or 5 or 6?

Good job on not getting the fish.

no parrots, thank you very much. Maybe finches.... I'll be getting some goldfish as soon as Tim leaves. I know it. It's a compulsion I have no control over.

My brother in South Dakota has a cabin he often rents to incoming pheasant hunters-it is amazing to me how big a thing that is, since pheasant hunting was just something I grew up with.
Fish are fun but I had trouble keeping them alive. I finally gave up and got dogs!!!

that was clever, if they were dying there, you knew it was not too good. i loved having goldfish too when the kids were young, but they did die a lot...so i stopped. i know i should have your address somewhere to send your ellies, but can't seem to find it, please send it to me. jossross@yahoo.com
