Watercolor

I'm addicted to watercolors. For the last month I feel like I have been just eager to get home and pull out my sketchbook, paints, paper, pens and brushes. I wish I lived in the days when women had to stay home and take care of the house....my husband doesn't expect much of me in the housekeeping area, so I would have PLENTY of time to paint and draw. Of course, cooking dinner would mean going out, catching a chicken, plucking it, cutting it up, and then roasting it....that might cut into the drawing and painting time. On second thought, I'll just stay where I am and grab every extra minute I get.

My co-worker and friend has a birthday tomorrow. I've known her for 8 years and her birthday is 5 days after my husbands so I am well aware that it is coming every year. However, since I have an illness called procrastination, I always wait until the very last minute to prepare for her birthday. I painted her a watercolor this evening, in between fixing and eating dinner. It is of her cat. Last winter I took care of her cat while she was out-of-state and while I was over there I took a bunch of pictures, with this idea in mind. The cat's name is Missy Kitty.

I'm very pleased with the outcome. I think I am getting the hang of using watercolors...at least on animals. Some other subjects elude me still.

Are you sure that that's pork on your fork and not Missy Kitty?
Good for you, you're doing more and more art.

Wonderful Cat!

I grew up on a farm and sometimes people would just drop off their pets at our house. We'd wake up in the morning to find one more animal around the place. Poor things.

One time someone dropped off a siamese cat. It was such a lovely dovey thing and it liked my dad the best. It would follow him around all day, but sadly we didn't keep it, but ended up giving him to some people who really loved cats. Your picture reminds of that cat.
