Thankful Thursday

If you haven't yet jumped into the world of trading art, you should. It's fun! I get mail addressed to me every couple of days (I like mail - I miss it since the internet came into our lives) and I get the most beautiful items for me to keep.

I'm planning to start a scrapbook to keep them all in. I'm really enjoying seeing how creative people are in many different ways.
This first set is from Cindy from North Carolina - I just loved the Frog In a Downpour when I saw it on her Flickr site and chose the Carousel Pig because I like carousels. The Goose and Goslings is beautiful too. She works primarily in collage - it's not something I've worked with before, but I think it looks like fun. I may have to branch out and try something new!
This next set is from S.D. Johnson from Pennsylvania - I don't think she has a blog but you can check her art out at flickr. I chose Starry Night because it's so different from the scenery I'm usually drawn too and thought it would be a nice addition to my collection. I don't usually think of cities as beautiful, but she certainly made it look pretty! She also included some swatches of paper for me to do something with. I'm not sure yet what I'll do with them, but it will be nice to have them on hand when the mood strikes.
Margaret and I traded again. As always, her work is just beautiful. The Barrel Cactus with blue flowers matches my other cactus ATC I received from her. Then I've got the Zendala (combination of zentangle/mandala) which is very detailed and finally Bougainvillea "Dream" - I really like this one, she paints flowers so well.
And last, but not least, is this set from Judy. She not only sent 3 ATC's but also included a beautiful bookmark, flower card with Chinese poem (interpreted on back) and some chinese papers from a temple in China. I love the loose sketchy washy feel of her art, the flowers make me want to try, try again on flowers.
Don't forget to check my site on August 4th for my water color give-away! I hope to hear from all of you. You'll just need to leave a comment and you'll be entered in the drawing. Yes, Aunt Krissy, family can enter too!

Wow, you've really got quite a collection of very beautiful and creative ATC's. A scrapbook sounds like a good way to keep them.

Wow. What a haul. Thank you for putting up all our cards. Wonderful to see what others are doing.

Yes, snail mail is the best. I love the Internet and social networks but nothing like a letter in the mail box. I guess it shows our age. We great up with real mail. I wonder if our young people ever send cards and such? Don't know what they are missing! Take care, Judy
