Guest Artist

I recently received these pictures from my guest artist, Katie Zapata. I was very impressed with her designs and suggested that she should make them in ATC format or draw onto bookmark size. I bet she would have lots of people want to trade with her.

Katie is my daughter! She is 23, has one daughter and another due in about 5 weeks! She is a stay-at-home mom and sometimes is able to fit drawing and other forms of art into her busy schedule (chasing a 2-year old can be hard work). I encourage her as much as I can - I'm amazed at how her art has developed over the years. I've always encouraged drawing, painting, and whatever sparked her interest but she keeps coming back to these zentangle-like designs which I think are wonderful.

My favorite is the leaf design. I'm planning to do an ATC similar...is that cheating? Stealing an idea from my own daughter? Since she comes from my womb, isn't that kind of like it comes from my own DNA creativity? I'm sure I can justify it somehow!

It takes such patience to do such designs. I think they are great. Well done Katie.

wow!! I didn't know my sweet neice had inherited that artsy fartsy gene!!! My favorite is the bottom right (blue and white) and the one right above it. Actually they're all really pretty awesome. Is it paint or ink or marker or what?
