Countdown - 7 days

I've been posting on this blog for almost a complete year.

I started this blog to keep in touch with my sister Kris, who had just left Alaska to live in Wisconsin. We are very close and I miss her terribly. She started a blog and encouraged me to do one also so that we could post pictures of everyday life and feel connected. It works. She posts almost every day as do I and we tease each other and joke around just like sisters would do in person.

We call on the phone too, but the pictures are what I enjoy most. I can see her yard, her chair where she reads books, her little wading pool that she soaks her hot feet in, her goats, her stupid dog, etc. It makes me feel like I am enjoying being with her even though I'm not there.

Each of her closest friends also blog so I get to know them too. When you know your sister's friends in another state, it helps you to know she is okay and not too lonely. She has friends. She goes to parties. She watches the parade. She enjoys her job. She goes to garage sales. She learned to make goat's milk soap. She got involved in a church. All of these things I get to see because she posts pictures.

Blogging allows a person to feel close to others even though they are miles apart. My son Travis started a blog also and it allows me to see what he and his wife (yesterday was their 1-year anniversary!) are doing. Becky blogs almost weekly and posts pictures on Facebook. It helps to make me feel like they aren't so far away even though they are spending the summer in Japan.

Now if I could only get my daughter to start one.

That is the best thing about blogging-keeping in touch with family. My 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters have a private family blog and it is so wonderful to keep in touch with everyone all at the same time.

Hey, I think you and I need to trade ATCs! I was looking at all your beautiful art on Flickr.

Love this story. A family of bloggers. Wish my daughter would join in. She's so stubborn and does the opposite of what "I want" Maybe if I told her she better "Not" start a blog, she would join within the next 24 hours (lol)

Love and hugs.
On my way to visit you son's blog

I didn't even know what a blog was until Kris told me about them. It is a wonderful way to keep in touch with folks and express yourself too. Some of my friends in AK kept after me to do a facebook or myspace thing, but I like the blog format much better.

Boy Patty, do you want me to send you money after all thoses nice things? But I did note that you called my child Abby a stupid dog. That there is fighting words. She is sharp as a round ball.

I love and miss you too. Come see me soon! I will wash the sheets after Dad goes.

Good story about your reason for beginning a blog. Blogging opens up such a large window, don't you think?

And about the felt cookies....I too thought they would be good nursery items, minus the buttons. A satin stitch or french knots would make lovely chocolate chips or M$Ms.

I know just how you feel. I wish my Sister and Daughter would start a blog. Neither have any desire to do so. Sigh~~ We only live 50 miles apart but it might as well be 500 miles. Life, work, other family and freinds take their time and attention. WHINE~~

KRISSY...I MISS YOU!! (okay...I'll go to you blog to tell you)

Maybe you and me can go visit her without sweetie(s). (He doesn't like Olive Garden anyway)...hey, that sounds like the only reason to go to WI is to see Kris and go to Olive Garden!

A customer at work today told me she wrote a childrens book, so of course I had to brag about your book and that you also illistrate, and now she's gonna check out your stuff to see if you'd be right for her book(s). She wrote "Girl named Tree".
