Stress

How do you handle job stress? Or do you even have job stress? I tend to hold it in until someone who has been irritating me for a long time finally puts me over the edge. Then I snap. Usually it's not more than a "Stop! Get out of my office - you are driving me crazy." Then I get apologies from the offending party and then I apologize for getting mad at them. And then I internalize all the rest of it.

This is one of the reasons I have migraine headaches. Besides my genetics. I'm sure some of them come from dealing with people at work.

Plus the exceedingly cold weather, kids in town, and car that won't start certainly add to the stress level. Although my transmission problem got fixed, my car won't start due to the extreme cold temperatures. It's been -15 to -20 at our house and the little car doesn't like it. I've heard the lows tonight are predicted to be -20 to -30 depending on where in town you are at.

But in all this, I saw a high school student walking to school IN SHORTS today. He was wearing a heavy parka and SHORTS. Crazy!

I don't have much stress at work certainly not with my co-workers. Sometimes patrons will be a problem but not often. Stress can do some nasty things to our bodies, headaches being one of them. May the Lord bless you with some relief in your work relationships or help you find ways to cope. Take time for yourself and find special ways to relax at home!

But I bet that that kid was looking cool! Did you replace Arla yet?

I was not allowed to choose an employee for my position. There was another city employee in layoff status that they have placed with me. She starts on the 20th. That contributes to my stress.

Sorry to hear about your stress. A good cry usually works for me. After that I just sleep off the stress. Have you ever tried going to bed really early and getting in a 10 hours sleep?

My de-stressing is playing music in my car and singing loudly along. I have a bad voice, so no one usually hears me sing.

Plus one of my coworkers is a certified massage therapist, and she'll work on my shoulders and neck, but I don't know that she can travel all the way up to see you to help in that way. :)

The shorts thing in winter is common here, too. Any time it gets above 20 degrees, you see crazy guys (almost always guys!) walking around in shorts or they'll be wearing pants with a short-sleeved shirt. Brrr.
