Snowmachining - Part 3

We almost always stop at a gas station/Subway just past Wasilla on the way up to our property in the Petersville area. Usually we are heading up in the evening after work so we stop there to get a sandwich and drinks so that I don't have to cook the first night in. It was 9:30 am when we stopped so still dark.

Now all unloaded. Tim got this all done while the rest of us were getting bundled into our winter gear.
This is Kenny Creek Lodge. It is only open in the winter and you can only get to it by snowmachine. It is very busy on the weekends; we counted 33 machines parked out front when we stopped for lunch. Tim has come here for lunch midweek and been the only one.
It was so crowded inside, that we decided to go ride for awhile and come back when it had cleared out a bit. An hour later we were able to get a table and had hamburgers and fries for lunch. We were sitting next to the kitchen and I watched the cook preparing everyone's food. They have deep fryers, a microwave, a dishwasher, a pizza oven, and all the luxuries of home - but no electricity to this facility. It is all powered by generators. When you look around and see how everything has to be hauled in by snowmachine, you can see why the hamburgers and fries are $10 each.
The beautiful view from Kenny Creek Lodge. This is Mt. Foraker, situated just southwest of Mt. McKinley. At 17,400 feet it is the 4th highest peak in the United States.
This is Mt. McKinley, at 20,320 feet high it is the highest peak in North America. Thousands of tourists come to Alaska every year just to see this mountain in Denali National Park. We get to see it almost everytime we go up to the cabin.

Georgeous! I would love to see Mt. McKinley...maybe someday. I was just talking to Rissa about the price of food in Alaska. Since she was there for college, she couldn't afford to buy any food at the grocery store! I never realized how much a much a hamburger would cost in AK...that blows me away.

Thanks for the pictures, I just love the views.

I bet you went slow in getting dressed so that you didnt have to help Tim unload! I know how you are!

I was helping the other two get dressed, you know, handing them a glove, holding the boot, getting mittens from the box, etc.
