Carina

All of my family is home! Adrian called me yesterday from the Salt Lake City airport and they were still sitting on the tarmack after 1 1/2 hours. There was a winter storm and they were waiting on de-icing. That put them into Anchorage much later than planned, at 3:00 am. Although we are not complaining. I held Emily last night - she wasn't thrilled but she wasn't upset either. She even flashed me a grin.

This is the watercolor of Carina that I painted for my sister Kris. I repainted this about 6 times before I decided I was happy with this one. Here are some of my practice paintings:

I tried different color combinations, different effects on the water up front and it just took a lot of practice to switch from yellow at top to blue at bottom. Drawing the thin lines from mast to mast and mast to booms was the hardest part - my hand was not as steady nor was my paint as cooperative as I wanted.

PS. For those of you who don't know our family, Carina is the sailboat we lived on for almost three years when I was a teenager.

Yea! they are all home! Are you going to the cabin? When are they going to have to go? Are they still going to visit with his family?

I love the picture...very nice. Enjoy everyone being home together.

My Christmas was short. Our son went back to his apartment tonight and our daughter leaves for a week long church conference in Kansas City, MO tomorrow. Time flies by way too fast.

It was neat to see your works in progress, you were patient to get it just right. The finished product is beautiful!
