Busy Day, Busy Season, Busy Life

I had a busy day. At work I have been without my payroll clerk for three weeks (she gets back tomorrow! Yay!) When she is gone, I am responsible to make sure all of our employees get paid every two weeks, so I had to do payroll twice for 100 employees. That's not so bad except that it is year end and I have a lot to do in my own job. Then I just found out that my accounts payable clerk has accepted a promotion in another department. Her last day is the 19th, which means I have her for only another full week. When she is gone, I take responsibility for her job. So that means I have been having a hard time getting my work done and will continue to have a hard time until I can hire a new person. In between, the one week that I have both the payroll clerk and A/P clerk, my receptionist is taking off 4 days to have her wisdom teeth pulled. Except for three days, I won't be fully staffed until mid-January, and that's if I get the hiring done soon. Plus I'm planning to take some time off the week of Christmas because my daughter and her family will be here for Christmas, for just one week.

Then I reflected on all the business of the Christmas season, stuff to do for church, stuff to do to get ready for houseguests, stuff to do so I can enjoy spending time with family and stuff I need to do just to keep the house up such as laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc.

I'm really going to miss my A/P clerk. She is a wonderful employee and good friend. And I'm so happy that my son and daughter-in-law will be here on Saturday and my daughter and her family will be here just a week after that.

I'm sure I'll get it all done, I'm just having a very small pity party for myself. Whose bringing cake? and balloons? and do I get any presents? It is a party afterall!

This is the balloon room that Alicia and Jim created for Jadyn's third birthday party. The kids loved it.

I've only gotten her a few things myself. I bought her a little pink baby doll and bath accessories. They have a dachshund. Maybe a stuffed weiner dog? They have to haul it all back to VA so I'm not getting much.
