Wisconsin - the Dairy State (and deer)

We (my sister and I) have spent much of each day driving around. We both love road trips so spending all day in the truck looking at scenery is fun for both of us. She picked County Road V as a good place to spot deer and she was right. I saw one in a field. Then three. The next field had five on one side of the road and one on the other. Then we saw several bounding through the woods to the side of the truck, white tails flashing a warning. Then a nice buck jumped across the road right in front of us. Later more deer ran across the road causing Kris to brake hard and Abbie to lose her balance on the back seat. I saw well over 20 deer within an hours time. I also saw several dead deer on the side of the road - and after seeing so many jumping along the side of the road and across in front of us, I can see how they get hit. They move fast!

In Alaska, moose get hit by cars too, but I've never seen a moose move as fast as these deer. Moose can move fast, but it's still more of a lumbering action, not leaping and bounding like deer.

I think my husband would like to spend hunting season here - there's lots to shoot at. I'm told there are wild turkeys too but I haven't seen any, although I did see a pheasant.

My husband and I do plan to come visit again in the spring because Kris needs someone to help her build a chicken coop and goat pen. That someone would be Tim.

Well, this has nothing to do with your post, but I found a new favorite internet site that I think you, and Kris would enjoy: www.etsy.com. It's a homecrafters website, and they have multiples of EVERYTHING you can think of :) Just an FYI

Your road trip sounded fun. You don't have to drive too far around here to see deer.

It was so nice to meet you tonight. Have a safe trip back.
