Swedish Embroidery

This is the throw my mom made for me. The artform is Swedish Embroidery; it's embroidered with varigated yarn on monk's cloth.

That's a black bear hide on the wall behind it. Most of my house is decorated in dead animals. We have moose racks, deer heads, caribou head & shoulder mount, and a goat, all in the living room. There's a couple more moose racks in the bedroom.

If you are interested in learning to do this yourself check out nettiesneedleworks.com or google Swedish Embroidery, I found several sites.

Here's a close-up of the embroidery. Now, my sisters will disagree, but since I'm mom's favorite, she did especially careful work. It's very beautiful and I love it very much. Thank you Mommy!

She has made one of these for each of the grandkids. I can't remember what color Katie's is but I would guess blue or green. Travis' is red on black and was very striking.

Girls....your mom is really talented. The swedish embroidery is beautiful,I love it. I'm not sure if I've ever seen this type of embroidery before.

Wow, dead animals in your living room? Do their eyes bother you?
