Chili Cook-Off

Each year at my work we have a fund raising campaign for local charities. Years ago I added this event to help raise money for our local Food Bank. Today we had our 8th Annual Chili (and soup) Cook-off. We had eight volunteers at my work location bring chili, soup, gumbo or chowder. We added soups and other crockpot items because not everyone wants to eat just chili for lunch. Over the years we've had Moose Roadkill chili, Burning Leachate, Landfill Gas and other equally creative concoctions.

Several other co-workers volunteered to bring sodas, cheese, onions, cornbread, etc. We have an extended lunch to accomodate all the different works schedules and then charge $1 per bowl and $1 per soda. Most people end up throwing in a $5 or $10 and just keep eating till they're full. There wasn't much chili left at the end of the day and we brought in about $200 at our location. Our other division had a cook-off also but I haven't received their results yet.

My mom came to visit, as did my former boss, the one I drew the raven picture for. We had other spouses and kids show up too. While mom was there she gave me a throw she has been making for me. I haven't had a chance to take a picture of it yet, but will post tomorrow.

Just cause I know how to make the throw, Mom better make me one also!
Or I will feel unloved!

A chili cook-off sounds like so much fun. What a good idea to donate the money to the food pantry. Wish we could do something like that at the library.

Mom said you were making your own Krissy. I'm sorry she loves me best.

Mine's very pretty, blue background with purple and blue for embroidery.
