Anchorage is hosting a re-vAmp, Re-do, re-sTore (ART) event for America Recycles Day on November 15, 2011. The challenge is to create art using 90% recycled or reclaimed product. I am planning on entering the competition and have a couple of ideas.
My first idea was a PorKEYpine or bird sculpture, but the more I work with these keys I realize I don't have enough, nor do I know enough about working with metal. So then I moved on to interesting designs, which works well with keys, but somehow they all seemed rather boring; circles, flowers, and snowflakes. Not really "wow" art in my opinion. This is from my latest playtime. I kind of like this rooster made of keys. I'm thinking if I clean them all really well and put a shine on them, it might look nice on a solid black background.
Have you got any other ideas? The art must be offered for sale, must use 90% reclaimed material, must be portable, and will be entered into a juried art show and displayed around Anchorage.
I love the rooster. I'd go with that idea.
ReplyDeleteHey mom, That rooster looks awesome! Love you!
ReplyDeleteI also love the rooster! You could rust some of the keys to ad accent colors ver clever of you
ReplyDeleteI think this looks great. I like Mim's rusty idea. For more recycled look maybe an old quilt as a background.
ReplyDeleteNice piece of recycled art!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOve the rooster!
ReplyDeleteI simply adore this!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this Rooster. I love Roosters and chickens anyway. Yes I agree with Mom, rust would look good in the Comb and neck waddle they get.
ReplyDeleteDelightfully keyed rooster! On black for sure. Or, anyway to glue them so it's a structure that stands alone?
ReplyDeleteI like it.
ReplyDeleteI also have a lot of keys and thought one day I will have a room to do stuff like this
Great idea! I like the rooster too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coooooool idea Patty!!! This would be amazing on an old piece of barnwood too!
ReplyDeleteI may have to try using some of the antique keys Scott's mom had and recycly them into a work of art. Fabulous idea!!!!!
